Bharatanatyam

Bharatanatyam is one of the eight styles of classical dance forms originating in India. Originating in the temples of Tamil Nadu, it is considered by many to be the oldest dance form of India.
Bharatanatyam consists of three main aspects: technical dance movement, expression (the ability to use the face, body posture and stylized hand gestures to convey meaning) and dramatic storytelling.
Characterized by dynamic footwork, intricate hand motions and beautiful regalia, it expresses the spiritual themes of the Hindu tradition while also having evolved to present contemporary topics suitable to modern times.
