Clarisse Tēhau Choy
Clarisse Tēhau Choy has been a member of Hālau Ka Ua Tuahine, under the direction of Kumu Hula Māhealani Uchiyama, since 2007. It was the same year that she began learning ʻōlelo Hawai’i through ʻAha Pūnana Leo’s Niuolahiki distance learning program, and has studied under kumu ʻōlelo Nāʻilima Gaison since 2013. She has also been an ʻōlelo student of Kaliko Beamer-Trapp since 2021.
Since 2018, she has been teaching beginning and intermediate level ʻōlelo classes for two cohorts of hula students in the East Bay. Clarisse has also studied oli (traditional Hawaiian chant) since 2016 in workshops with Liko Puha and in Oli Honua/Hālau ʻŌhiʻa Hawaiʻi lifeways training led by Kekuhi Kealiʻikanakaʻole since 2021.
